Google’s cloud gaming platform is becoming relentless in its approach to releasing new content. Love it or hate it, they’re starting to make more frequent game announcements and despite its youth, Stadia is showing that it wants to become a major player in its space. Over the last two weeks, they’ve announced thirteen new games and eight of them are this morning alone. A lot of our trailers today did not tell us of a release date, so we’ll have to wait patiently to hear more as the next few months unfold. Let’s take a quick peek at what announcements dropped today and please let us know in the comments below if you’re excited about any of these titles!
The Darkside Detective Season 2
Although season 1 is not available on Stadia, season 2 begins with a recap of what you missed if you didn’t play this title on another platform prior. Odd choice in our opinion, but that’s something we can discuss in another post. The Darkside Detective is a classic point and click adventure game with a distinct sense of humor. Gameplay very much looks to be similar to games like Thimbleweed Park and Truberbrook and it’s coming to Stadia next spring.
Where cultists crawl, where demons dwell, where the occult… occults? you’ll find Detective Francis McQueen, the lead (and only) detective in the criminally underfunded Darkside Division. When evil darkens the doorsteps of Twin Lakes City – hell, even when it just loiters around shop fronts or hangs out in shady alleyways – he’s there, ready to investigate the cases that nobody else will. He is The Darkside Detective.

Nanotale: Typing Chronicles
I don’t know about you, but I really enjoyed those typing games growing up. I know, I’m a geek. Nanotale seems to have the exact same mechanic where you need to type words of varying lengths and lexiles as fast as possible to overcome challenges. This time it’s packaged as a roleplaying game. This unique approach to this genre has me even more excited. I know many people will say that Stadia’s game selection is not mainstream, but I’m enjoying all of the quirky and interesting games that are coming to the platform that will help it stand out in a crowded console and cloud marketplace!
Nanotale – Typing Chronicles is an atmospheric typing adventure RPG set in a colorful vibrant world. Follow Rosalind, a novice Archivist, as she journeys out to explore a distant world. On her quest to gather knowledge, she collects samples of mystic natural beauties. Everything is peaceful.
Figment
Figment seems to be another game that deals with a character adventuring through a mindscape. Apparently, you must defeat nightmares or figments of your imagination as everything dances to some sort of rhythm mechanic. Very odd, but interesting with a wacky, painterly artstyle to boot.
Figment is an action-adventure game set in the human mind. Nightmares are spreading chaos and enemies have overrun once-peaceful lands. Join Dusty, the Mind’s courage, and his ever-optimistic friend Piper to restore peace. Make your way through mind-bending puzzles, musical boss fights and surreal landscapes.
Venture into the depths of the right and left brain. Find creative puzzles in Freedom Isles where lateral thinking is key, right-side brain activity will be needed. Whereas logic and reasoning are fundamental in Clockwork Town, a representation of the left brain.
Death Carnival
I’m not sure what it is with gorey games taking a humorous approach, but I’ve never been a fan of this. That being said, Death Carnival turns killing into a gameshow. This game reminds me of Smash TV or The Running Man. I’ve got to say though, I’m a big fan of top down shooters, so long as it’s not a twin stick shooter, count me in for a try.
Death Carnival is a fast-paced top-down shooter with extreme weapons & online multiplayer mayhem. In a future world, broken by war, humanity endures in a few overcrowded cities. To escape their bleak reality, many turn to televised combat sports, the most popular being Death Carnival. In this deadly game show, contestants must battle against hordes of monsters and machines for fame and fortune on live TV.
Unto the End
I’m not going to lie, as an indie developer, I’ve had my eye on this game for quite some time. To see it coming to Stadia is pretty exciting. It looks like a 2D nordic dark souls survival type game. I will be very interested to show you all some gameplay of Unto the End on our Youtube channel when it releases
Unto The End is a hand-crafted cinematic platformer about a desperate journey home.
As the adventure unfolds, the decisions you make can carry consequences not just for you, but also for the creatures you encounter. Mastery of combat is critical, but fighting isn’t always the only way. Overcoming adversity can sometimes be better achieved through sharpness of perception.
Unforgiving terrain, fierce opponents, and paucity of supplies means there are scant opportunities for respite. Through the suffocating gloom of frigid caverns and biting winds of harsh mountain peaks, every step weighs heavy with the relentless struggle to make it home.
Kaze and the Wild Masks
Ah, retro inspired platforming goodness. Kaze and the Wild Masks seems to have the gameplay of something similar to Donkey Kong Country with the mask mechanic of The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, only you’re a rabbit. Pretty slick!
Let 90’s inspired platformer Kaze and the Wild Masks take you on a trip down memory lane as you side-scroll your way through the Crystal Islands. In the colorful world of Kaze, you face enraged living vegetables in a variety of ways thanks to the powers of the Wild Masks. Pounce ferociously like a tiger, soar through the sky like an eagle, sprint fiercely like a lizard and rule the sea like a shark.
Figment Creed Valley
This is the “encore” to Figment. The heroes of the original game mentioned above – Dusty and Piper – have restored peace in The Mind. However, a new adversary threatens its balance. The pair need to travel to Creed Valley where the mind’s beliefs and ideals are formed and also to The Moral Compass as you switch between two different gameplay styles, closed-minded and open-minded. Trippy. I wonder if this game will have anything larger to say about the real world social climate.
Figment: Creed Valley is an action-adventure game set in the human mind. Nightmares are spreading chaos and enemies have overrun once-peaceful lands. Join Dusty, The Mind’s courage, as you make your way through puzzles, musical boss fights and unique environments. Face your fears head-on.
TOHU
A lot of the games on today’s list have unique and odd artstyles. They seem very “indie”. Nothing wrong with that. I’m just happy to see more puzzle games come to Stadia. As much as I enjoy FPS and RPG games, I can’t go a long time without flexing my logic muscle!
Get lost in TOHU, a brand new adventure game set amongst a world of weird and wonderful fish planets. Explore beautiful environments and solve intricate puzzles as a little girl, joined by her mechanical alter-ego, Cubus. Together they will discover the truth about themselves and the mysterious Sacred Engine that powers their world.
TOHU is brought to life through gorgeous handcrafted artwork, with a musical score from Christopher Larkin – the award-winning composer of Hollow Knight. Whether you’re searching for critters or learning how to operate a cannon that fires moles, TOHU is packed with all manner of crafty puzzles, eccentric characters and wacky conundrums.
